Coaching Rules of
Behavior |
As a coach you are looked upon as a teacher, mentor,
leader, ROLE MODEL, authority & parental figure by the youngsters on your
team. Do not underestimate the effect or influence (positive & negative)
you can have upon a young child. In coaching young players, winning or
losing should be the least important thing for both you and the players.
Soon enough, children will be exposed to the competitive nature of sports.
Your goal should be to teach the children about the game of basketball and
to instill upon them a love for the sport. If your players enjoy
themselves and want to play again next season, you should consider your
season a success.
- You must act like a ROLE MODEL.
- You must attend or have your assistants attend every practice or
game.
- Before the season, meet with your players and parents to explain the
goals of TAYB for the upcoming season.
- To have fun
- To learn the basic fundamentals of the game of Basketball
- To show improvement from one practice to the next
- Communication is one of the most important factors to the parents
and players. Please post your practice, game, and even picture schedules
in advance.
- Always be fair and equal to all children this should be a safe, fun,
friendly, and equal environment for all children to play and learn
together.
- Please respect the gymnasium and keep it clean and organized as when
you arrived. Please do not allow any persons in the school that are not
there for you practice. This is becoming more and more of a problem and
can very easily, and swiftly, lead to TAYB losing the use of our
gymnasium(s).
- Use your Division Coordinator for any questions or concerns that you
may notice. If he/she is not available, or does not respond to you in a
reasonable timeframe, please contact an Executive Board Officer.
- Remember that you are responsible for the safety of your players
after practice and games. Please do not leave the school grounds until
all your players have been picked up.
